The year’s final update in pictures

We’ve hit just about the tail end of our growing season here. As we mentioned last week, we’ll likely get some more tomatoes, ground cherries, and cowpeas ripening over the next couple weeks. Maybe. Looking ahead weather-wise, we’re in for a lovely fall, but several possible bouts of rain will probably keep things on the cooler side.  Right now, the garden looks rather messy, as we’ve yet to start the fall clean-up. (The leaves started falling in earnest earlier this week.) So please forgive the “wild-ness” presented in the pictures. Regardless, onward we go with the update!

Staring on the side of the house, the strawberries are still throwing out shoots, and a couple of the cherry tomatoes have shown new growth! No actual tomatoes have come with it, however.

Out front, the marigolds have gone wild! As pretty as they are, we probably won;t plant these larger varieties in this space next year.

These large plants are just too much for these small beds.

They are still beautiful, though. :)

It’s been really fun sharing with everyone the process and results of our gardening ventures this year; and we really appreciate all the comments, likes, and follows. We’ll posting intermittently throughout the rest of year (one or two posts per month). That’ll probably continue through the new year, or at least until we start prepping for 2015. Seems like it’s so far away at this point, but we all know that next year will come all too soon! For now, it’s time to start getting the place ready for winter. Happy Fall to all!
